Marina Bay Sands

It’s not just about Casino and Gambling!

When asked if anyone heard of?Marina Bay Sands, their usual reply would be?“isn’t that the?casino?in Singapore?”

You’re not wrong! Marina Bay Sands(MBS) is one of the two?integrated resorts?which feature casino facilities to open in Singapore, the other one being the Resorts World Sentosa.

However, to simply know it as a casino, would be an understatement! While this $8-billion project by the?Las Vegas Sands?holds the world’s largest atrium casino, it also has a 2560-room hotel, a shopping mall, 7 celebrity chef restaurants, a museum, two large theaters, an ice-skating rink, two floating Crystal Pavilions, and a 150 meter-long infinity pool!

Let’s explore more!

[Update: The Arsenal First Team players visited Marina Bay Sands during their Singapore Tour in 2015. Are you there? Check out their video tour below!]

Sands Skypark

The SkyPark at the top of Marina Bay Sands is one that has been making headlines ever since it is opened. It is located on the?57th level?of Tower 3, featuring a 340m Skypark and a?150m long infinity pool.

This pool has welcomed famous guests and celebrities, including Liverpool FC players?during their Asia tour 2011 in Singapore. Arsenal players like Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker also visited the hotel pool during their visit in 2015.

Here’s a short video to show their tour around the top of Marina Bay Sands.

Hotel guests are allowed?free-entry?into the infinity pool. Each guest who is staying at MBS Hotel will be given an access key, and they can bring another guest along.

For members of public who just wanna have a panoramic view of Singapore, they will purchase?tickets?at the Sands SkyPark counter at Basement 1.However, they are not allowed entry to the infinity pool. Instead, they can get around the?SkyPark Observation Deck, where photography enthusiasts can get their best shots of Singapore.

There’s also guided tour of the whole Skypark at specific hours of the day for ticket holders. If you’re part of the tour, you can get access to view the pool too. The Observation Deck is located in a way that it allows you to view?almost?the whole of the central of Singapore, and a little beyond. Take a stroll around and?spot?a few of Singapore’s popular landmarks…like the?Floating Platform, which is used for hosting Singapore’s National Day Parade and?F1 Singapore?races?

… and the?Singapore Flyer?too!

Other than dipping yourself into the pool, most guests will just love to lie on the?benches?by the pool side. Don’t worry if you can’t find one. There’s a lot of benches, and poolside beds too!

Though we like to call it a ‘pool’, you hardly find anyone swimming like an Olympian here. The pool is shallow and you can actually walk around the whole pool with your hair dry. Some guests will bring their cameras into the pool with them to capture the amazing view below the pool. You can too, just be careful!

If you haven’t know, shopping is one of the favorite pastimes of Singaporeans! And now, we are spoilt for choices, with the new?The Shoppes @ Marina Bay Sands.?This 3-storey luxury mall houses some of the high-end retail brands – Bally, Chanel, Fendi, Gucci, Miu Miu, Yves Saint Laurent, Herm?s and many more.

To make your shopping experience pleasurable, there are also?world class performances?presented to you at the Shoppes, featuring international luminaries, jazz legends and pop sensations like James Moody, Toots Thielemans, Ronan Keating, Matt Monro and Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey!

How about?ice-skating?in a shopping mall?

The Shoppes also houses a 600-square meter?skating rink?for all novice to intermediate skaters. Don’t worry about getting your own skates. You can rent the skates at $3. The first hour of skating costs S$7 for adults and S$5 for children. Just get your own socks, or you can get it there for S$6.

There’s also a mini man-made canal then goes passes through the shopping area inside Shoppes. It’s for a?Sampan?ride which cost $10 per adult and $6 per child (2-12 years old).

The sampan, like a small wooden boat, was used as a mode of transport along Singapore River in the early days. Might be fun for family with little kids, but maybe not for dynamic guys like you and me 😛

If you are a?Louis Vuitton?fanatic, you would realize that you can hardly find their shop in the Shoppes.

This is because they have their very own boutique, the?Louis Vuitton island Maison, at the floating platform just outside the Shoppes!marina-bay-floating-lv-shop

i Light Marina Bay

How about some cool, yet environmental friendly stuff from Marina Bay Sands?

The?i Light Festival?at Marina Bay is Asia’s first and only sustainable light festival, aimed at creating awareness for energy-saving lighting technology for the urban environment. It had been held from 9 March to 1 April 2012, and previously in 2010.

I was so excited to see the i Light especially after looking at all the photos that my friends have taken and I wanted to capture some beautiful shots from the festival too! As amazing as it seems, the feeling of being at the actual venue makes all the difference!

Seeing the petals of the Art Science Museum being lit up to tell a story of environmental sustainability and was an eye-opener! However, the most amazing and unique display was the choreographed stick figures! Viewing it from the floating platform with the entire Marina Bay Sands as the backdrop completed the entire experience of i Light.

For now, there’s no updates on when the next i Light festival will be held, but we’re pretty sure there’ll definitely be one! Look at this space for the latest updates of i Light! And now, we leave you with some our i Light moments…ilight-marina-bay-rainbow
